Default I hate my corvette

particularly the right front brake caliper
brakes were soft after sitting all winter, go to bleed the brakes today, first caliper is fine, go to the second and the damn bleeder valve snapped clean off, ok im mad enough already, i go buy an extractor, put it in and soak the broken off valve in pb blaster, attempt to extract and the damn extractor snaps off in the valve, i am more than livid right now, i feel like shooting my car

Just got through the same thing. Those extractor are impossible to drill. If you can't get it out, I guess you'll have to buy another caliper. Sorry!

I just redid mine. I snapped 3 of them.

Gave them to a machinist friend, first two he could get out. The third had an extractor snap in it, and he EDM'd it out..

Friends are cool.

I'll have to say though, that 'themoneypit' definately has you beat. He gets the cheese to go with the wine...

Stay away from screw extractors. Just drill out bleeder screw and retap. Had to do one last year.

Too late now, but Dot 5 helps prevent these issues... Learn from this...use anti-seize.

rebuilt, lifetime warranty caplipers are about $60 at local parts stores. I'm hoping that's not as high as you thought.

while we are sharing upsetting situations I was not getting paid at work for the work I was doing so I quit and have no job. So I can no longer afford to insure a corvette! Sure hope my news makes others feel better!

Default Bleeder screws

I had a bleeder snap of a few weeks ago, that was after soaking in Releaseall for a week. I knew the easy out would break as well so I took it to a machine shop.
They got it out alright, even saved the threads, installed the caliper, hooked up the brake line, hit the pedal and fluid poured out of the bleeder and I hadn't even opened it yet.
They had managed to drill too deep and completely removed the seat.
Anyway, a new caliper now installed and no more trips to that machine shop.

If they're not new they probably need replacing anyway

I feel your pain, 3rd year of college and 3rd year of Vette ownership. Things are looking up now that it's summer and I only have a full time job instead of full time school too

Good luck, don't give up!

It's called living beyond your means.

I know all about it, but somehow I managed to support this habit and graduate college a couple of weeks ago.
