This is what my car WILL look like.... but I have black sidepipes!!
I'm just over a year into my restomodifacation .... I started on the paint job first!!! Everything just keps delaying the paintjob....... new motor (clutch to fan clutch, carb to oil pan, intake to exhaust)...... complete new fuel system (tank to carb) .... new rear wheel bearings.... new tires..... new brakes..... HOPEFULLY my car will be RED by fall!!!
The hardest part.... I drive her every day!!! I missed a few day's during the motor swap and a couple of day's during Hurricane season, I just can't seem to put her down for a week to finish the paint!!!
I can't Imagine putting her down for YEARS!!! how do you guy's do it???

I have been wondering where you were at with the paint job John. Hey it took me a while to get mine painted. Most of the old timers on here remember my car when it was white. Then I installed a red hood and drove it that way for about 2 years. Finally, my wife said get it painted already. So I stripped the paint off and sent it out to get painted. I was without my car for about 4 or 5 months and it seemed like forever. Now that it is all behind me, I am glad I got it done. You will get there and it will be sweet.
My question is how do you do all this work and still use it as a driver. Mine was off the road for about 3 years (moved in the middle of it). Some things just take time to do. I did have a 69 Camaro that I toyed with while doing the Vette.
There were times in my sales career that I wouldn't have been able to keep plugging if it weren't for the dream of getting her on the road. If I felt (spelling?) like giving up all I had to think about was the day I'd be able to go "hunting" in my ride.
Jcswm, just think of how it's going to feel when you finally get it done. Then you won't have to worry about scratching the new paint because you have already fixed everything else on it...
Eddie.
You took so much ribbing over that red hood, it was almost a shame to paint it. But damn does it look killer now
