Default Aftermarket Hood

I'm looking to go to an aftermarket hood for my 72 Vette. Since I live in North Potomac Maryland, I stopped by Tony's Corvette shop in Gaithersburg and talked to him personally. I told him I was looking for a long style, hi-rise aftermarket hood. I said that I was either going to get it from Corvette Central or Eckler's. Tony said that he wouldn't recomend it because neither one makes a good fit, they just don't work.
So now I don't know what to do. Can someone help me out with a hood that they've bought and worked. It has to be one that replaces the wiper door.

Call Vanacor's www.vanacorvette.com

They are the fiberglass masters when it comes to vettes. Everything I have recieved from them (which is quite a few things!) has been top quality.

Keep in mind, though, with a fiberglass car, NOTHING fits properly and EVERYTHING take a little bodywork to make it fit perfectly. Each of our cars is truly an individual.

The long L-88 hood I bought from Eckler's fits better than the original hood.

Bryan is right...most all special hoods require some kind of "adjusting" for a good fit. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones from www.vanacorvette.com are purchased from the same source as the ones from Corvette Central and Ecklers, considering the price they are asking is very cose. There are quite a few guys who have installed the long style L-88 hood with good results and they got them from Ecklers or Corvette Central. That's where I'll be getting mine

Did this Tony guy recommend an alternative to the two places you mentioned? If so, you might want to give it some thought. If he wants to sell you one he probably gets a good discount on it and will charge you more $$$ for it. And I wouldn't be surprised if the one he got you was from the same source that Ecklers and CC get theirs from

My NOS L88 hood fits like crap. I'm leaving it that way! Makes for a good story.
