Did any of the later model C-3s have a factory coolant recovery? If so what year? I would really like to add one to my 68 but can't find any aftermarket that I can find a place to install it that I like. Any suggestions?

My 76 has a recovery tank. It is bone dry though so I don't know if it is particularly working or not. but the tank should work on the 68.
EDIT: the tank is on passenger side of engine compartment and is pretty well hidden under the fender lip. The hose goes from the filler neck of radiator into the cap of the recovery tank.
I bought the red-cap plastic jug variety at the autoparts store. It looked pretty hideous screwed onto my inside wheelwell, but I wanted to keep an eye on it. Then I bought a similar but slightly smaller version of the same thing and tucked it in more out of sight inside .... what do you call that area.. by the gill vents.
i have a 74. it came with a plastic model that bolted through the wheel well. it looks like your car came with a metal one originally. maybe the plastic one would fit. www.corvettecentral.com has them. (not sure if that helped at all)

73-82 had coolant recovery tanks but they are one component in the engine coolant system. If you install...I would be curious how it works.
It will work just fine! The stock 68 setup has an overflow hose that just dumps to the ground. You simply replace that hose and route it to a plastic tank. Should stay dry most of the time, but if you puke some coolant it goes into the plastic jug instead of all over your driveway or garage floor. Then after cooldown it gets sucked back into the rad.

It should work, but I think the reservoir is supposed to be filled to a certain level w/coolant in addition to what is in the radiator. If coolant is lost elsewhere, then it is taken from the reservoir and put back into the radiator.
