It's there for sound dampening, nothing to do with heat.

Hood insulation?
My 80 does not have an insulator under the hood....will this ruin the paint on the hood, and what's required to install one. I do not see any clips or buttons, etc under there.

heres mine with factory clips, i also glued it in place.
