A friend with a 68 vert is missing his passenger side backup light. He needs both the lens and the body. Does anyone know a source for these? We've found ones for 63-67 and 69-82 models, but the 68 seems like an "orphan" year for this item.
For the 1968 back up lamp assemblies, you're probably going to have to watch E-bay. They are expensive. I first bought a pair from a Corvette salvage yard (J&D Corvette). I think I paid $250. They didn't look all that good. If you can get them from E-bay for $200 that's a good deal.
I picked up one (still need one) on ebay about 2 months ago. Housing, lens, and all. Complete, and in great shape. Paid 25$ for it. If your not in a rush to get one, be patient and you'll get a good deal.
You and I will probably end up in a bidding war if another single one shows up.
Thanks for all the info. It pretty much confirms what we suspected in terms of sourcing the housing. I am pretty sure that the difficulty in finding this part is the reason that it was left off of his car, that otherwise was in great shape.
I have a pair that I'll let go for $100. They are in good shape but are painted on the outside unlike the originals that are yellow zinc plated on the outside.
