Just a friendly warning so others won't make the same mistake I did.
I recently installed a MidAmerica 9 leaf 2-1/2" spring in my 78.
With stock length bolts the rear of my car had the proverbial Redneck Rake.
I looked on MidAmerica's site and found Part No: 602-850 "Extended Kit, rubber bushings"
This is where I made the assumption that these bolts were the much desired 8" bolts that work so well for everyone else.
WRONG!!
These bolts are a full 5/8" longer than the stock 6-3/8" bolts.
If I am not mistaken this adds up to 7 inches which is a little shy of the desired 8 inches.
Luckily I live in Wisconsin and the local International Harvester shop will have some bolts for me on Tuesday.
I'm just going to ride over to the hardware store and get some 8'' grade 8's, and drill them for the cotter pin. This should work ok, right? I just need to drop 3/4'' or so.
9/16" x 8" Grade 8 and it's your call on fine thread or coarse.
Nyloc's work fine and dont neet to be pinned. there are no rotational forces on those bolts.
