Default 75 L-82 Wheel Sizing 18 x 9, 17 x 8

I'm new to the forum, so let me first say hello to ever one. I need some assistance in selecting a wheel tire combination. I've seen other peoples posts, but none of them truly answer my questions.

I have a 75 L-82 vert, pictures to follow. Currently I have the standard rally wheels installed. I wish to upgrade to a larger "plus size" wheel configuration. As you all know, they are not returnable once ordered.
I've seen pictures of various verts and i wish to install the following configuration:

Front: 17 x 8 x 4 bs - 245/45/17
Rear: 18 x 9 x 5 bs- 275/40/18

The suspension is completely stock. Will the above sizes fit without serious modification? I assume I will have to relocate the e-brake.
Any thoughts, and if you have pics, please post.
Thanks,

Rob

The sizes you mentioned would fit nicely. You will have to relocate the ebrake bracket to the top of the trailing arm, but you will have no other issues.

Here is my car with 17x8x4 bs - 245/45/17 fronts
and 18x9.5x4.875 bs - 275/40/18 rears.

With the 9" rim you are talking about and the 5" backspacing, the outer edge of your rim/tire will be 5/8" more tucked in than mine.

I am getting ready to order my new wheels as we speak. But after seeing the 17/18 combination, I am rethinking my combination. BTW, what brand wheel and tires are those? They look very nice. Is there any chance that you can give us a side and a rear shot of your car?

Thanks,
Ed

If I was going to spend 2 grand on something. I'd put it into a new suspension and get it back to great handling. Those bushings are toast after thirty years. As for tires, I believe those will work. Try a search.

Its all about appearance and personal opinion. I believe that with the smallish front and the largish rear on our cars, a staggered wheel combo looks better. I got the idea from looking at a bunch of C5's.

There is no performance advantage to 18's over 17's.

Wheels are Boyd Coddington Nemesis. Tires are Kumho Ecsta MX.

Looks great. Did you cut and reweld the cable support, or just tie the cable agasint the t/a with a zip tie?

You would have to cut and reweld. I don't run a parking brake so I have no cable.
