I am pulling the engine in my 69 and want to clean the compartment up some. I am not trying to make a show car, just clean up. Thought about using bed-liner paint but probably would be tuff to remove if I ever wanted.
What's the best paint to use on the inside fenders and fire wall? Also, suggested degreaser or cleaning with damaging?

i used simple green as adegreaser and regular aerosol paint....i used rustoleum satin black on the fire wall and gloss grey/gloss black in other areas....
I used Eastwood Underhood Black. It's laquer in a nice spray can. Painted the firewall and inner fenders 10 years ago on my 69 and it still looks great. Nice "semi-gloss" that holds up well. Prep is most important regardless of paint. I use Dupont 3939 to remove all grease and oils prior to painting.
Automotive paint is the best. a basecoat / clear coat will resist all fluids, even brake fluid. rustoleum will bubble if you wave a can of brake fluid over the paint.

I did not know that about Rustoleum, though I do know that spilled gas will take it right off. I never heard of "Eastwood Underhood Black". Where do you get it?

once the rustoleum is cured it is very resistant to chemicals....problem is it takes a long time to fully dry

How long does it take to cure? I sprayed it almost two weeks ago and it still came of when the gas spilled. The gas did stay on over night before I found it (a line leaked overnight), so maybe that had something to do with it.
if your painting the top of cross member the master cylinder or stuff like that use por-15 it goes on great and wont come off with nothin you spill on it they even make it for exhaust manifolds!!
