i would have to say that it would not be a good idea to put to much weight on the front end of the car with the front stands where they are. the front stands are suppose to be on the frame rails in front of the front cross member.

proper way to jack a C-3

........ well, if the owner isn't around, I guess you just smash the window, open the door, and hotwire the sucker. If the owner is nearby, hit him over the head first, and proceed as above.... but I wouldn't recommend it!

Wow jury's still out on that too I see. I was always taught at Chevy Dealer to put tee tops on, and NOT open any doors as long as car was on the rack.

Who the heck knows, any more!

If you hit him over the head first, why not just take his keys???

It makes no difference what they do if it is dropped off a rack like mine was two years ago. They were lowering it,the rack "jumped" and down it came, rear end first....

You are correct. NEVER open the doors on a C3 when it's on a lift supported by the frame. Bad juju! OK on a drive-up lift.

This is correct...keeps everything more rigid.

I fail to believe this makes any difference on a car with a halfway decent frame. Our cars are 23-37 years old, have been abused and lifted by several different methods, by several different bubbas all while opening doors, removing ttops, etc. and most of these cars show no signs of damage. The frame would have to be in pretty bad shape if you are depending on a fiberglass door and ttops to hold the body together.

This much is evident:An un-equal lift will tweak these bodies and may cause some stress.Mine got the ultimate test:a six foot drop off a hydraulic rack, went off rear end first, cracking left front fender, right front scoop, right rear corner, dent in oil pan, chunk out of belhousing, and pushed rear frame up 3/4" plus cracking rear bumper on right side.
Many times,I had previously jacked this Vette up on one side, doors closed, with no problem, and I'm talking 18" from the garage floor.
