I just had Flow Masters 40 put on my 1972 350 Auto.
They sound very cool, low mellow sound. Sounds great when you stand on the gas. You can even hear the cars auto tran downshift through the pipes. Although at 35-40MPH the tone is loud inside the "cockpit".
Shoot, now my wife will know when I get home at night
Hope this helps anyone.
Do you have a crossover connecting both pipes,if not itll help out with the resonance the flowmasters give while cruising. It wont be completely gone but better.AN h pipe or a x pipe will work.

I recently replaced my stock exhaust (79 Coupe) . I did 2" off the stock manifold, thru the crossmember. Into 2 1/2" with an "H" pipe to the Flowmasters 40 series. The "H" pipe mellows the system out. It's loud but very mellow with no resonance.
I will try to get a sound clip. Thanks for the crossover tip. And yes the sound does have a bit of the "tinnyness" to them. But they sure sound better than the holes I had in the previous system!
