Default front shock adjustment

Silly question, but I have to ask. How tight should the top nut be on the front shocks? I have replaced all the front suspension but Im not sure how tight those shocks should be. Sorry for the dumb question but I just dont know the answer.

Tighten it until the rubber/poly bushing compresses and the outer diameter is about the same as (or a little bigger than) the outer diameter of the washer that sits on top of the rubber/poly piece .... if you tighten it a little more it doesn't really hurt ...

It is listed in your AIM. If you don't have one, get one. It was what Chev used to put it togther for the assembly line workers.
What year are you asking about? I can help, up to 73 anyways.

Thanks for the responses. Don, it's a 76 and the only book I have is the haynes manual and a resto book. Seems as though there are a few of us Marines on this forum.

Gunny,
The torque should be 60-120 Lbs./In. for the upper nut.
The lower two screws should be 120-180 Lbs./In.
