Need to get a quick replacement Rochester Q-jet for next weeks trip. I stripped out the threads on one of the tiny screws that hold the top plate on. (under the choke plate.) I don't want any carb issues during my trip. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply Chris.
I will try out your recommendation. I went ahead and ordered a carb from SMI, just incase fixing this one fails. I talked with Sean Murphy personally. Seems like a decent guy. Hopefully all goes well. I want a stress free (overdue) vacation driving my vette. Later.

The new Q-Jet from SMI (Sean Murphy) came in today. WOW! What a difference! Total 180 from the Edelbrock Q-jet. It started right up, the cold idle was around 1500 rpms, let it warm up for a minute or two, then it kicked down nicely to about 700 rpms and it didn't stall or even sputter. I did a quick idle mixture adjustment with the vacuum gauge and set the idle (800 rpms). It actually idles smooth now. The test drive today was very impressive. Instant throttle responce, no dead spots, secondaries kicked nicely. Perfect.
That dude knows how to taylor a Q-jet to the engine. The hell with those Edelbrocks. I'm going to take a to it.
