OK guys, I was out cruising yesterday and saw a 66 Nova SS just like the one I had when I was 16 yrs old. I loved that old girl. Anyhoo, I was thinking about trying to find one to trade my 73 vette coupe for. Now mind you, this is only a thought, but I would like to get another 66 Nova SS and I don't have the cash for one so the only option is a trade. Anyone have a nise 66 Nova SS to trade? I may be interested.
The '66 Nova SS was a nice car, especiality with the 350hp engine But I would never trade a Vette for one unless it was in perfect show car shape (all original, numbers matching, perfect). Those thing would move down the drag strip, but then you have to stop them and turn around which could be very exciting
It would be a hard decision and by all means it would have to be a very nice Nova SS for the deal to happen, my old 73 is pretty dam nice if I do say so myself. Another reason I would like the Nova is for a little more space and a trunk. I know, I know, you don't buy a vette to carrie sthit, buy a truck for that.

Both cars in equal condition...that Nova SS is gonna be worth a LOT more than your Vette and continue to climb in price rapidly. Unless you had a 454 4-speed in your Vette, you are gonna be shelling out quite a chunk of change PLUS you car to get a Nova SS. Especially if the Nova has a four speed. For a clean Nova SS in nice shape...you are looking at $30,000+.

Low Retail = a hunk of junk.
Average is decent shape. High Retail is pretty mint and seems accurate. Inflated beyond belief...but accurate.
Imagine...a NOVA cost more than many C2 Vettes!!!!!

JIM: Very rare to find any in mint/original shape for a good price. $18,000 is VERY reasonable. Too many people are taking these cars and ripping out the 4-speeds and installing automatics. The few 4-speeds that are left are going for astronomical prices. Actually, that 4-speed-to-auto changeover seems to be an epidemic in the muscle car realm. It's making ALL stick shifts go WAY up in price. Nothing hurts me more than to see a nice car with all the "right stuff" in it and the words
"was a 4-speed, now an auto" in the ad.
The 73 might make a down payment on the Nova... but an understanding banker would sure help complete the transaction. Novas and chevelles of the mid 60s to early 70s are commanding gold. Add the restoration costs and one should be able to live in the mobile home. Wonder where it will end ??
