resister wire from switch ???????
I'm about to install a XR-1 in my distributer and have to make sure there is ballast resistance in the circut. The service manuel shows a risistance wire from the switch, all I see is a normal red wire. Whats the resistance wire look like?? what should I be looking for ? the service manuel covers other cars as well like chevelles etc. maybe vettes don'T have them ??

what year is your car?
My car is a 73, but I can't rely on the present wireing, I havn't seen any of the wires all of you are discribing. I did do the test to see if I have something in the circut and came out nothing. Electrical is not my specailty, but if I take my time I can figuer things out,,lololl I want to make sure I did not miss something.
if you have checked all the wires that attach to the coil and can not identify it. i recomend you buy a wiring diagram. i got one of the laminated ones.
this will allow you to find the wire at the firewall connector and follow it back to the terminal.
i found a 73 diagram in a Haynes book and it lists a blk/pnk wire going to the coil. find on the block and remove it...
