Default Couple questions about the 76.

I have a 76 and was curious as to when the overhead (on the bar located between the t-tops) courtesy light was phased into production? I have a production # of 45005 and I don't have this over head courtesy light, but I was at a corvette show on sunday and noticed a 76 that had a production # of 44xxx that had this light. Any suggestions would be helpful. I know they began late in the year, but I would like to know when.

Also does anyone know of any other changes done during the production of the 76 model year, i.e. interior codes, trim, etc?

Thanks

I know the rear emblem changed partway through the model year, early ones like mine got the 6" emblem and later ones had the larger 8" emblem that I believe was used through '82. My early '76 does not have an overhead light, just the under dash lights, the rearview mirror light, and the rear area light.

does this have anything to do with interior trim level? I was looking for info on the courtesy light because mine doesn't work( it is in the t top storage area) but mid america had it listed on the bar on the roof as well. I just figured it was that way on the higher level interior trim.

Thanks for the replys.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but I accidently posted this question twice. Sorry.

For those that refer to the rearview mirror light. I thought that only came on manually with the switch on the mirror and not when you open the doors?

Thanks

Mine has the deluxe package with all options, and it doesn't have the overheard, but it does have the t-top storage light, which I believe all vettes going back to 68-69 have.

Fan shrouds one year only.
Rear bumper emblem as stated above.
Steering wheel

A couple other things also. 1976 production year there where changes made during the run. You will hear the term "early 1976" verse "late 1976" cars. Mine had the early fan shroud and early rear bumper. There is no light in the rear view mirror and no light between the t-tops. But the vin number puts it in late in production. GM made some changes for the 1976 production year and when their supplies ran dry that year they started using 1977 parts.

I appreciate your response. Does anyone know of all the changes made during the 76 model year? What they were and when they happened?

From what I have seen at various corvette shows, it seems as if these changes weren't necessarily uniform, meaning some mid 76's have changes that a late 76 may not have had. I'm not sure, I'm just trying to find out as much as I can.

Thanks

I think there were some mid-year cooling system design changes in addition to the fan shroud. Both the upper and lower radiator hoses were different. By the way, the GM dealer couldn't provide me any help in determining which ones I needed. I got the correct answer in about 5 minutes from this forum.

I have an early 76 ser# 29xxx that didnt have the overhead light, I had an overhead light leftover from a 76 blazer and cut the interior piece so it would fit and just wired it with the light in the back cargo area! it has the early shroud radiator supports as well. Im not sure of what the cutoff date is though
