Default Front grill question

Hi all,
I am having trouble locationing a passenger side front grill for my 70 vert. The driver side is correct.. I think... I has one screw hole on the outside top portion... then three studs on the bottom backside to hold in place. The passenger side has four holes around. Obviously it didn't come from the factory with two different grills ... so ... which is correct for the 1970 Corvette? I looked in parts books and can't find the grill with the single hole and studs??????

I think you will get several answers on this one. But on my 70 they are both studded on the back side with one screw going through near the top. To find another studded one you will have to do some serious hunting as they are not reproduced.

70 are studded.( except very late cars possibly) 1 year only. If you remove both on your car you'll notice someone needed to make holes for the one with the screws along the lower edge. The hole locations are different for the 2 pieces, unless you don't have a original 70 front clip.

These pieces are hard to find in any condition. I collected afew over the years until I got 2 I liked. I can look to see if I have the one you need, and what condition it's in.

I'm a little confused. Are you talking about the 1970 front grills that include the parking/turn lamps? These are chrome plated aluminum castings and can be bought today...for only $380 each!! They are available from GM Restoration.

Or maybe you're discussing the louver grills on the 1970 that are located just behind the front wheels. These are pot metal, chrome plated, and painted. I'm not aware if they are still available today.

Are you discussing the front grills? Just would be interested in knowing.

Front grills with the parking lights. GM restoration may have the correct ones with the studs. I have not looked at them. I know most of the vendors do not have the studded ones and if you find a nice one at a show, the person selling only wants an arm and a leg.

I have a 70 with what I believe is a late model original grill on the passenger side with screws not studs. I have another question, I own several books and some 70's are shown with clear (not fogged and ribbed) lens with what appears to be driving type lights. Any idea?

yep.. I was asking about the front grills. LH and RH. I cannot find a replacement studded for the passenger side. I see them everywhere but a little (*) denotes these are late 70 and up front. This tells me no studs. My car is not exactly NCRS. I am not looking to make it that way however, any orginal equipment I can save for appearance would be good. I did replace suspension parts where technology pushed through.... If anyone has a lead on a decent RH (passenger) grill let me know... THANKS.

And yes, the 70 has a clear lens for turn signal with amber bulb...

I agree with Eddie 70. My 70' vert was mfg. in January of 70'. Both L & R front grills have 1 screw and studs.
