Probably another stupid question :-) I'm detailing my engine and went to the local auto parts store to get some Chevrolet orange engine paint, and hmmm... now there's "Chevrolet Orange" and "Chevrolet Red-Orange".
Bought the "Orange"... sprayed some on and damn it looks bright. One of the previous owners sprayed some of what appears to be this color on a new water pump, and it looks somehow incorrect as well.
Anyone else been thru this dilemma... anyone with advice?
I used the Chevrolet Orange on my engine. It turned out pretty good. I am not going to go with EXACT details or parts replacement on my car, since it is not 100% stock, or numbers matching. But the Chevy Orange turned out to be pretty close to what was already on the intake manifold.
i used the "chevy orange", i am very happy with it but i can not tell you if the tint is exactly as it was in 74. are the two colors diferent? are both colors made by the same company?
I ordered Eastwoods 2 part (epoxy paint and hardner) "Chevy Orange" paint. When the paint arrived, the can indicated the color was "Vermillion." I thought that was a mistake, but close reading of their catalog identifies Vermillion as being Chevy Orange. I went to Ask Jeeves (ask.com) and typed in "What color is Vermillion?" The color block graphic looked like Vermillion is an Orange Red.
Has anyone used This Eastwood paint? I have yet to open the can. Can't decide if I should return it.
I bought the paint at AutoZone... and it's made by Duplicolor. I got curious, so I went back and bought a can of the orange-red as well. After looking at test pieces of both, I decided I liked the orange-red better than the orange... somehow looked more authentic (reminds me of Tomato Soup). Actually very little difference in the 2, but the orange just seems almost dayglo. I'm going to repaint the valve covers. I'll post a pic of the 2 for comparison. Oddly enough, the orange-red looks very much like the color in your pic john5365.

My local corvette shop informed me that the red-orange paint is not exactly correct. However I tend to like it better..... In fact my fav color has to be the old Pontiac Metal flake blue, ala early to mid 60's, but that just would not be right on my vette....
