just wanted to know i have a 68 vette and when the guys were installing the cd player they had to disconnect the oil pressure gauge .. is there a hose that goes to the gauge so it can tell the pressure or is it from some other way .. when my dad drove the vette home oil was leaking on his foot and the next morning, oil was underneath the car (oil dip stick was showing practically no oil in the morning).
Yes, there is a plastic tube from a brass fitting behind the distributor. It goes through the firewall to the pressure gauge. When the radio was installed the tube must have been disconnected from the gauge. It will continue to leak oil if you do not reconnect the tube to the gauge or remove the fitting behind the distributor and put in a plug until fixed.
You should have a copper clad steel line for a small block or a clear or possibly black vinyl line for a BB.
Regardless, the line is SCREWED into the back of the oil gauge, with a compression fitting.
They either forgot to tighten the fitting, or broke the line. Also, I'll bet you have a mess on top of the radio/stereo. It could be ruined beyond repair. Chuck
