Default A/C Compressor Shield

Who has the best price on the A/C compressor pulley shields. The only catalog I could find it in was Corvette Central and they wanted almost 63.00 for it. Want to get it covered before it ruins my hood. It's an 82 with the R4 compressor.

Not sure if you ever got a reply to this or not. I was in the same boat as you the day you started this thread and was hoping someone had some info. I ended up breaking down and ordering the one from corvette central. I agree that the price seemed a little high. Ecklers had it listed for cheaper, but it was listed as "discontinued".

Oh well, you know what that means. I'll receive it in the mail, install it, then I'll see one for dirt cheap the next day. Hehe...that's usually how it goes for me.

I just had my car painted and I'm having problems with oil splashing the underside of the hood from the A/C compressor, embedding itself in the fiberglass, and working it's way to the top of the hood in the way of small blisters.

Right now I'm just waiting a month or two to see how it progresses (in the 100+ Texas sun) before talking more with the paint/body shop about what I should do. It's barely noticible, but the painter is the one that pointed it out to me and you can certainly see it if you're looking for it. Either way I figure the first step is to buy a guard to stop the splashing. I've heard it's next to impossible to get the oil out of the fiberglass without eventually replacing the hood (or at least the affected fiberglass) when this problem shows up.

Anyone else out there have problems with a/c compressor oil working it's way up through the hood?
