Default carb/intake setup

What carb/intake combo that is emissions-compatible and able to fit under a stock '80 hood would you all suggest? Would the factory dual snorkel airbox also be compatible?
Thanks.

Stock QJet with stock intake manifold. Seriously! The carb and distributor just need to be tuned for better performance (and then perhaps detuned for emissions testing as needed).

If you don't believe me, look:

Stock carb & intake...and the car runs like a scalded cat. Secret is the cylinder heads (and L82 cam).

Sounds like good advice to me based on your picture. If I use a GM 260 HP long block, are the heads and cam a good combination with the stock intake/carb? Or would I be better off using the block I have (non corvette 69-79 350) and put different heads/cam in it with the intake/carb? I'm interested in low-end torque and a smooth, quiet idle for cruising as opposed to high hp.

Great looking engine compartment, by the way.

If your block is good, go for heads and cam. Check my sig above for a suggestion on heads. I'd suggest a Comp XE268H or equivalent.

The 260hp engine ain't exactly a screamer...more of a good solid cruising engine. It's roughly equivalent to an L48.
