so where did u buy it Muddywaters? When I saw the pics, I thought it was in the foothills near Hwy 49 (I'm in Folsom CA).

As for the owners manual, it's part of my "library" :-) Not sure why I keep all this stuff (I have brochures for about everything u can think of from the 60s and 70s). But I've noticed there are LOTS of them for sale on ebay, and they're not that expensive, especially the reproductions... probably $20.

The 72 LT1AC I bought in 92 for $10K had 60K miles on it and was in incredible condition, but in primer "ready for paint". When I saw it advertised I had to call, because it was too cheap. I asked the guy if it had a/c, and he said "well yes, but the compressor isn't hooked up". LOL He had bought the car to autocross and had completely rebuilt the engine and drivetrain and suspension, and got to the paint stage and never finished. Fortunately all the right LT1AC stuff was still there and the block hadn't been decked. Here's the deal breaker... it had been in an accident in the mid 80s and needed 2 front fenders and one grill and bumper... and it got totalled !!! Of course it ended up with a salvage title. Amazing that 90% of the old Vettes going down the road have had more fixed and changed than that car and they all have clean titles.

I held onto the car for a couple years and couldn't get motivated to get it painted, and finished, and another toy came along and I needed room. I couldn't sell that car to ANYONE. Finally some Corvette broker contacted me. He bought the car from me for $7500 and said he was going to store it for 7 years till the DMV records got purged and then get a new title.

I'm betting someone's driving a 72 Ontario Orange LT1AC coupe with a clean title now :-)

Default 72ltair...

Hello 73LS4,
I purchased the Vette in Torrance Ca. I found it on a Auto Trader Web Site. They had actually advertized it in there paper for some time, without any results. They only had it on the trader for a couple of days when I seen it. In reference to the Manual, if you do decide to let it go, please give me a ring ok! I promis, I wouldnt beat you too hard over it, smile. Must report, I got all my SS brake lines & suspension kit today. So, it looks like I'll be pulling the engine this weekend, ummmm. Can't wait. Regards, Don

Default Thanks to all concerned...

Hello Members,
Just wanted to thank everyone with all the great advice that was supplied. Needless to say, I have a hard copy of the post and more than likely will be asking more advise in the future. I will be removing the engine this weekend for a total rebuild, except for the decking anyway. While the engine is out, I will be working on the suspension as I have the complete rebuild in my possesion now. Needless to say along with all the engine compartment cleaning and painting.

If there is any info some may have in regards to making this transition a bit more easier, please advise. On that note, and again... Thanks heaps!!!! Don

PS. I'll post pic's at different major stages...
