Default Another octane question

I am sure this question has been asked a many of times, but what do you C3 owners run for octane in your cars? I have read all sorts #'s. I have been using 87 and seems to run fine, plus I think the owner's manual suggests this. Anybody have better results with a higher octane?

If you have a later model C3 with 8.5:1 compression, you can run 87 octane so long as everything is in good shape and properly tuned. The earlier cars need more octane. My 75 now has about 9.8:1, and I can get away with midgrade, but usually run 92. If you have an agressive camshaft, you can usually run a little lower octane due to less dynamic compression. The cars that seem the most sensitive to octane requirements are the earlier low horsepower cars with 10:1 compression and a mild cam.

If you do not need higher octane fuel to prevent detonation, there is absolutely NO advantage to using it. Your car will NOT run better, last longer, get better mileage, or any other advantage, despite what the oil companies may imply. Period.

Run the lowest number octane you can that doesn't cause detonation.
