Ya know, people could get a lot more help if they put their home location in their profile!
We have a local guy that does an excellent job on rear ends and trailing arms at a very good price, but I am hesitant to recommend him, as shipping costs may be excessive.
People, we are not going to steal your 'vette! Let us know where you are.

I agree with you here I had posted this same thing on the C-2 forum earlier this year and got bashed by some forum members who will not show where they are from. This I don't understand either. You don't have to put your full name if you don't want to. I have my first name and the first initial of my last name but I do show the town and state I am from. What is the big deal of not doing this I don't know. Its not like we are listing our street address or phone number. None of us do. I also show my collector cars in my Corvette photos. I am not worried about anyone stealing my cars plus why do we have insurance for if that was the case? Some forum members who agreed with me won't answer questions from members that don't show where they are from and what they are driving no matter what I was told.
Bringing a Corvette into Thailand is nearly imposable; this is why they are so expensive here. Some Customs officers here have one of the most beautiful car collections in the world, and for free.

What's it like driving over there? All I've ever seen are nightmare pictures of unbelievable crowded roads - little white *** cars and oxen fighting for space, etc.
Oxen????? Rice yes but no Oxen. Actually the traffic here is not good but the new highways they have built over the past 15 years has helped alot. Some roads you stay away from as you would in any big city. Bangkok 10 million people with one million ladies ready to pour you a beer
Thanks for the diagnosis Doc. They got a pill for that?
Whats so funny? I don't see anything funny about it. I kind of believe it myself. Whats to hide? I don't understand people who hide on this forum. What is it to at least list your first name, your town and state and the car you drive? What are you afraid of? You respond by trying to be funny. You must be a comic. What pill should I take Doc? That was uncalled for when someone is trying to be serious here. There have been plenty of forum members looking to get work done and yet we are suppose to be mind readers trying to figure out number one what they drive and where the heck they are located.
Geez ffas, relax man, to each his own ,its not mandatory. Theres also alot of people with alot of good info that do not post... oh well, i'm not loosing sleep over it and niether should you, buddy o pal o mine

I am very relaxed. You are right it is not mandatory and believe me I am not loosing sleep over it. I am just giving my opinion here like everyone else. I still don't understand why some of the members need to hide. A simple first name, town, state or country, year of your Vette wouldn't hurt anyone. Actually in Jugheads case if anyone wanted to find him since he doesn't post his name or where he is from would be easy. I already know he is from PA based on his license plate on his car. Maybe he should of put masking tape on his license plate when he placed those digitals in his Corvette Photo's listed on the Corvette Forum. Someone could go right to his front door if they wanted to so why hide the info in your profile????
Actually the little info I was suggesting wouldn't really let anyone know who you are if you are afraid of someone coming to steal your car but it would help other forum members help you when you post a problem you are having with your Vette.
I don't see what diff it is if you list or not! Anyone looking for shop recommendations always lists the area there in! & anyone that's looking for help always lists the vehicle their looking for help on! What's the big deal on where you live or whether you list your name or not. It's got nothing to do with car thefts or maybe it does , not everybody has as secure lock-up as maybe you do? Maybe some people are just more private than others. Most of the time I don't even know where in he-l the friggin town is anyway

And now....the answers to your questions.
#1. Many people ARE afraid of theft, since many people HAVE had their cars stolen. People tend to become very cautious after that happens.
I don't blame them. Have YOU ever had a vehicle stolen? I have. The feeling you get is personal violation and loss of mobility that can't even be imagined unless you actually have it happen to you. If you have had a vehicle stolen, you should already know this type of worry. Plus you'd be surprised how much info you can find by using special search programs online. I notice you don't have your last name in your bio. What are YOU afraid of??
#2 Date of birth. A LOT of guys posting on here aren't even old enough to drive a car. So they don't like posting their age because they feel others wouldn't give them credibility or take their posts seriously. Heh...that's funny. I don't see your DOB posted either.
#3 Privacy. That would be "it's none of your blanking business".
Many folks just aren't into the "please help me" outlook. They work on the cars themselves. So no need to post that type of info.
#4. Info about the car. Sheesh!!!! I am REALLY sick of seeing the laundry lists of aftermarket gobbledygoop listed on people's posts. I really don't CARE that you have gold-plated roller rockers or see-through valve covers. Talk about needing an ego boost!!!! Sometimes the list of parts in the signature exceeds the actual mesage in the post.

This isn't always true. I have seen it plenty of times where a forum member would mention a problem he is having with his car and not mention what year Vette or what engine. I had to ask on a number of occasions after trying to answer the question and looking in his profile not finding a car listed to what car we were talking about. Not everyone list the area in which they live either when looking for a shop. Seen this plenty of times and had to ask. Again I ask what is it to just list your first name, town and state and what year car you drive? Who is going to find you with this little info and at least the other forum members who are interested know a little about you as far as your first name and the Vette you drive. If you are uncomfortable about the town just list the state. Someone really would have a problem finding you with just your first name.
Well not that I'm really that worried about some-one finding me but your statement

I live in a town of 300, anybody could find me very easily just by asking about my car at the local store! Anybody that had a high-end car could easily be located even in a town of 5-10,000, just by asking a few locals the right questions & that's without a name.
Please don't be frustrated if some-one doesn't list their information particulars when looking for info! Not every-one knows how much is required or sometimes your into such a train of thought simple info neccesities can easily be forgotton. I always list what I think is neccesary when asking for help but not every-one would realize for instance motor size would have an effect on rear axle parts!
