Slightly off topic...350 Rocket Olds question
I have a 1970 Oldsmobile with original 350 Rocket and 2 bbl carb. I have bought a new Holley Performer intake to go on the car. I also purchased a NIB Holley "450 economaster" carb to mate with this intake. I only want very modest performance but much better mileage. I had a 450 Holley on a Chevy SB once and loved that system. It had lot of pep with secondaries, but cruisability with the standard putting around.
My question is about putting this small of a carb on this motor. Is there any danger of running lean? The carb is originally for a 403 Olds and is marked as such on the factory box, so displacement is not and issue because it is actually going on a smaller engine, albeit higher horsepower.
What might I run into as far as it not running right assuming all parts are new and no installation problems?
I entered 350 cid, 5000 rpm, 83% volumetric efficiency and it came up with a required CFM of 420.284
Enjoy!!
