I am about to switch my C3 to Hagerty Insurnace from a "regular" ($700/year) insurance policy. It is only going to cost me $113/year!! It seems like a great deal. Anyone have any comments/problems they have had with Hagerty? Any input is appreciated. Thanks
The cost is very cheap, but you are limted as to mileage (3000) and use's, you cant have the car as a daily driver, it needs to be used for shows, parades etc etc.
Also needs to be in a lockable garage.
I was going to switch to Haggerty until I learned of the mileage limitations. But I was able to use Haggerty as leverage with my current insurer (State Farm). Seems both State Farm and Allstate are just rolling out "classic" auto insurance similar to Haggerty, with a couple of differences:
1. State Farm has no mileage limitations.
2. State Farm does NOT have the cool towing packages included in case of breakdown (available at additional cost).
I was able to keep the car with State Farm, for an agreed upon value of $27K, not have any mileage restrictions, and pay $132 every 6 months ($32 for 6 months of storage). I live in a horrible insurance zone, by the way.
They did come out and take pictures and make me start it, but other than that, it was pretty painless.
Oh, one other thing...it MUST be an antique (25+ years old).

i like hagerty, when my 65 was damaged towing behind my truck, they forked over the money for the repair . no problems. then renewed the policy, no problems. what more could i ask for.
My 73 is covered by Hagerty. 28k Agreed Value, $0 Deductible, and NO annual mileage limitations. $230 annual premium. The other requirements are pretty much in line with most "classic" auto insurers, e.g., cannot be your daily driver, kept in locked garage, etc. How they handle claims is TBD for me.
A year ago mine was insured with State Farm, but after questions I would still be at the adjuster mercy,I could state a fair value but if the adjuster said say 6k that was it.
I just switched my 76 vette and 29 Mercedes Gazelle kit car to Hagerty's. My son's 75 vette will go on the policy as soon as we receive it (mid -July). I'd be interested in hearing how they handle claims as well.
You have to read the contract and live with their rules - it cannot be a daily driver, must be in a locked garage and so on.... I can live with these limitations in order to safe $600 or more each year....
Make sure you can live with it - otherwise there's nothing negative that I could say about them, haven't had a claim ...

This sounds about the same as the deal I have with them. I had a claim (wife hit the car while parked in the garage) and to my surprise, they paid 100% of the claim, with no premium increase, and no deductible! I would not hesitate to recommend them.
I've had them for my vette since the beginning of this year. I couldn't handle State Farms price anymore. Even with a multi-car discount, I was still paying about $900.00 a year.

Mine's a '76 and they never aslked for mileage on mine either. The orig application had a PLACE for mileage, but in parenthesis was the caveat ('81 or newer)
So I left the mileage blank and even reupped my insurance for more money by adding on to the policy recently.
Now it's insured by them for a stated-value of 25K
