I recently had my Diff re-built, and after a drive of 20 miles or so, it would start to bind and make that loud banging/creaking noise .....SO, i added an additional bottle of LSD additive. It seems to have made a slight difference, but i am still getting binding when the diff gets warm.
Is the answer to try another bottle of additive?? (i will have to drain some oil out to actually fit it in) How many more bottles of this stuff can i put in??
I used 2 tubes ( 4 ounce x 2 = 8 ounces ) with new oil in the rear end of my 72.
The Chevrolet bulletin on this says that afterwards you should do several tight figure 8's to fully lubricate the gears. Or allow for approx. 50 miles of driving. ( note: I think it was 50 miles, it seemed like a high amount)
...sounds like you're both doing well with 2 bottles, though it doesn't seem to work with my diff...and i've done well over 50 miles since adding the second bottle.
I don't remember which brand addative was, but is wasn't GM ...i wonder if this would make a big difference??
I run 2 bottles of the GM posi additive and 2 quarts of oil. If you are getting binding is it possible that the rearend was put together too tight? Backlash and bearing preload. Tight posi clutches don't make noise in a straight line and only make a noise while turning.
