Removing front cap questions
Hey all,
Does anyone have a "how to" on removing a front cap on a 82 Vette linked somewhere or maybe a site?
I'm wanting to pull my front cap to clean?repaint my engine and need to know where the exact mounting points are at before I dive into this project.I'm pulling everything out and cleaning + repainting..the car has set up for 10 years.
Also when the cap is removed do the innner sections come off with it leaving nothing but the frame and the block exposed? I want to paint my upper control arms, steering gear and other things you can see in the engine compartment.
But a "how to" page or something with pics would be nice

It would be a million billion times easier to pull the engine. That would give you access to clean/paint/etc everything you mentioned above.
You can find lots of threads here for your cap removal though, just do a search of the C3 section using "front clip" as search words.

(It's also not that hard to clean/paint all that stuff with the engine still in, see below, only about half done but you get the idea...)
