Degreasing Engine Parts and Re-Painting them ?
I've got the engine out and so I am trying to clean up the engine bay and all the pulleys, bolts etc that are under there. I have been soaking some of the really greasy stuff in a bucket of degreaser/water. It does the job alright - almost too good because it might eat a little paint or definitely expose where there was no paint
What types of spray paint do you guys recommend re-painting these types of parts while they are out the car- I'm talking about the starter, pwr steering , pulleys, brackets , bolts etc.

do gloss black..... i did semi and didn't like it...... also, i painted some of the bigger stuff..i.e. control arms with rustoleum brush on...goes on a little thicker than the spray.... i painted the inner cup of the pulleys blue to match my blue theme in the bay

I use engine paint on everything--engine primer first of course. Then I spray two coats of clear engine paint. This combination has really held up over time much better than anything I've tried before.

Did you guys brush it on or spray it on?
Also, did you use the Primer first?
HOw about all the bolts as well? did you paint those too or just buy new ones?
Is it necessary to blast the parts first or just degrease? thanks
