'74 finally back on the road
Well after a complete new clutch kit, resurfaced flywheel, and a new rear ring gear, the '74 is finally back on the road. The car runs and drives 100 times better and oddly enough idles 200 rpm lower (old clutch 1000 rpm / new clutch about 800 rpm) and runs smoother. Also very rarely has it idled high after a cold start. The old clutch must have been goin for a long time cause it's like drivin a different car. We opted not to put a heavy duty clutch back in and just put an oem regular clutch in and I'm sure glad we did. Needless to say it's a lot easier to push in than the heavy duty. Almost put my foot through the floor the first time I drove it after it was fixed. I put about 100 miles on it since last Friday and I can't get enough of drivin it. I also made the switch down from Plus to regular unleaded cause plus is about $2.20-$2.30 round here now. It runs great on unleaded so I'm gonna keep on runnin that in it. Now hopfully the only other things I need to do this year are an oil change and puttin gas in it. We'll see
