Hi,

How valuable would you rate a 1970 1 owner vette?

Here's the detail of the car:
46,000 original miles
454/390
4 speed
convertible
everything is original so I'm assuming numbers match.

I'm new to this hobby. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Hate to say it but without LOTS of additional info it could be anywhere from about 10k to around 50k. You're talking about a 35 year old car, one owner or not. I'd suggest having someone very knowledgable look at the car.

Some of the main things are the Frame, Birdcage (window frame), paint, engine, suspensions, etc. Next, is it really number matching. If it's the correct block, is it the correct Heads and other components (carb, manifold, distrbutor, alternator, starter, exhuast manifolds, transmission, differential, etc. etc. and etc). If not, it could still be a good car, but the value may be different.

Is the paint decent? Is it the original color? Has the car ever been whacked (majority of them, especially big blocks, have probably bee whacked at least once in their life). How's the interior?

Is there any documentation. With a one owner car I would hope so.

These are only a few items, there is much more. It may be a real sweet deal and a great car. But, I'd want to be sure of what I was buying, regardless of the price.

That's my .02. Good luck and if you get more info and pictures, please post them.

Thanks for the info. According to the owner, everything's original except the mirrors and sidepipe. Paint is original. I can see places where the paint has chipped off in the picture. Probably will need to be painted to look nice. The frame is in good condition. It's been garaged for 32 of the 34 years. She backed into a parking sign is the only whack. Everything is suppose to be working. It has been sitting in the garage for the past 10 years. Oh, and yes, she does have documents. Not sure how extensive is her document collection though.
I was excited to see you are from NY until I looked up mapquest, you are about 5 hours away from the car. Otherwise, I would ask you if you are willing to go checkout the car with me.

Really depends on condition. Does it have '69 style side exhaust or aftermarket. If it has little rust, good birdcage/windshield frame, good interiour, so-so paint, truely numbers match, I'd say 25k-35k depending on condition of brakes, top, suspension, drivetrain, fiberglass, etc.

It has a '69 style sidepipe. Has both soft and hard top. Not sure about the condition. I think fiberglass is good. Just chipped paints. As far as brakes, suspension, drivetrain, and other mechanics, I'm not sure. Thanks for the info.

25-35k. Sounds like somebody did not get to enjoy a nice car for many years. Shame.

I heard driver BB bumper (68-72) roadsters were pushing 40k and more at Bloomington. If it is truly as nice as you describe, with a good paint job it might be in that range.

It sounds nice. I'm hoping to see it this weekend. I don't know the condition mechanically especially it's been sitting for 10 years. If I can get it for 25K, I'll definitely enjoy it for years to come.
