Default Speed Direct Clutch Linkage

Speed Direct Clutch Linkage

Just wondering if anyone is using this setup. When I did my rebuild, I put all new springs, pins and a clutch fork. Just about every time I push the clutch in I get a pop in the clutch linkage. I was thinking of stepping up to this. Any opinions or users of this setup on here?

Chime in please.

Have you considered "pedal bushings"?? Yours might be worn out. While they are still available from GM they are a bi*ch to change.

I am hoping bushings are not needed.

I installed that kit, would highly recommend it. Takes all the slop out, is easier to push the clutch pedal in and it has much more adjustment

I think Vietnamvet is using that setup on his C2.

Wish I had seen that when I was doing mine. Looks good.

Thanks for the pic Wayne. Do you have a pic of the longer bar that is used?

I have been thinking I would order the kit. I was just wanting to see that someone was using the kit and was happy with it.

I ordered the kit Friday and recieved it today. That was pretty darn fast IMO especially with the holiday mixed in there. Stay tuned.

tempting to go with this SpeedDirect kit.... as I am still waiting for my Mr Gasket long clutch rod. Seems like it has been out of stock for over a month.

Watching and waiting... I, too, am interested in this. My pedal action is a little crude now that the Tremec is broken in... completely new linkage, BTW. I wish I had known about this one a year ago.

Me too. It would have been much easier when the car was gutted.

Anyone know how much more adjustability it provides over the stock rods? Does speed direct offer a forum member discount? If no one knows I'll call them tomorrow.

There's an inch or so on the bottom rod ( one in the pic aboive) and another inch to two inches on the clutch rod, way more than the stock clutch rod, sweet setup, highly recommended you will see and feel the difference this kit and the cheap metal on metal GM rods

Okay, I am at a sticking point this evening with my install. The ball ends on the linkage are around .725". The stock linkage end is around .530". I cannot get the pin to go back in the clutch pedal to hold the rod end on. Anyone got any ideas on how to get by this one? BTW, if I am confusing you, I am talking about the pin at the top of the clutch pedal. One more question, does the pin at the top of the clutch pedal come out?

Otherwise it has been a straight forward install.

Looks like a good setup but I'll never buy another product (nor accept a free one) from S.D again.

Right now I just need the Z-bar to clutchfork rod. How did you connect the longer rod Wayne?

Morning, early bird. This is the same one I am working on Len. I am thinking I can work on the ball end with a dremel and make it fit. I just need to take a little bit off of one side. Stay tuned.

Okay, I got it. I crawled back under the dash one more time and looked real closely. When the stock linkage is connected to the clutch pedal there is a cotter pin, a washer, the clutch link, and then another spacer. For some reason, last night I could not see the spacer. I popped the spacer off and the linkage just dropped right into place. I adjusted the linkage at the clutch fork to have no slack. I have yet to drive the car but will post my findings after I refill the tranny and it quits raining. This thing should be a sweet setup.
