undefinedundefined Has Anyone installed a B&M shift kit on a 350 turbo auto transmission? If so how do you like it? I'm wanting too install one on my 79. Thanks For Any Replies?
Installed one's years ago in a Camaro w/a TH350. Made a world of difference in the quality of the shifts when you were "on it". Nice and crisp and even with the very low-po 307 it would chirp the tires nicely between 1st and 2nd. And what I really liked was that when you were accelerating normally the shifts were pretty normal and tame. Ended up being the best of both worlds.
I don't know what was done to my TH350 but I do not like the shift kit at all. The previous owner says it's a B&M shift kit and other stuff was done to the transmission.... i am not sure what else was done... it's nice when you 'get on it' but when driving 'normal' you're still getting that neck snapping feeling when it shifts....it shifts very harsh, especially when it shifts down....

They say if you install a shift kit it increases the life of the transmission.
I really want to install a shift kit...its going to be one of the first things I do when my vette arrives (well...Im putting the side pipes on first!).
Im still tossing up whether to totally manualise it or not...what are peoples thoughts on this?
TransGo is the best shift kit on the market. When I was looking for a kit to put in my TH400, the TransGo kit was favored by more forum members.
I'm very happy with it. Two settings available, Street and Strip.
B&M makes 2 different basic kits. The one I installed cost about $60. I could really feel the difference. While it was stock the gear changes were almost unnoticed. The transmission shifts much quicker. Driving around normally the shifts are firm but not what I would call harsh. I certainly like the way it shifts much better than the stock setup. Installation was fairly straight forward. The only downside is tranmission fluid continuely dripping while preforming the work.
Make sure you get the right one. The Transpak is for the TH350C and the regular Shift Improver Kit is for the TH350. I know cause I bought the SI and not the TP. Not much fun when you've got tranmission guts all over the place and you realize you've got the worng parts! arrrgghhhh!
Once I got the correct on installed on my 80 (TH350C), it works as designed. I opted for the firmer shifting and not the whiplash inducing option. You have the choice before installation depending on where you drill your holes.
Hope this helps!

I just put a new 3.55 rear gear in my 80 and have been looking at the B&M shift kits at my local parts store. Was it the type of thing that an average guy can do faily easily? It sounds as though the less agressive install would be the one for me. Brent
The installation is not that bad. For me, it was virgin territory. Never did any tranny work. The directions are written well; however, the photos could have been of higher quality. The job would be a brezze if the tranny was out of the car and upside down. A little mechanical skill and take your time. I had to read the directions more than once.
Put one in a Camaro years back. Worth the $$. Great feel. Lasted for over 100k before I sold the car. Did not cause any damage to the rear as I had already beefed up the rear for the additional engine mods and sticky tires.
Put one on my Vette last April, did a full overhaul at the same time, but I love it! Great 1-2 shift, not harsh at all if you take your foot out of it. Go for it, it's fairly easy and straightforward.
