Default Removing the drag link

My power steering control valve (PSCV) is leaking bad and I've ordered it from a CF member and am waiting for it's arrival but after looking at the drag link it's all grimey from 36+ years of service. My question is if I decide to pull the whole drag link and bead blast and paint clear gloss the entire thing before installing the new PSCV what are the chances of getting the whole thing off without busting any of the tie rods using a pickle fork?? I just spent $400 on a 4-wheel alignment and if I break one of the tie rods then no matter whether I count threads my alignment will be off. These tie rods have been on for many years probably seized on and previous experience on my other Vettes dictates I'll bust one. Keep in mind when the engine needs rebuild (probably in the next few years) I'll be pulling the entire front suspension, powder coat everything so I wonder if I should just QUICKLY half-azz clean the drag link, in place, with the dremel wire wheel coat it with POR-15, install the PSCV and be done with it.

For simple dirt I wouldn't bother. Clean it in place and do it once when you replace stuff. Just clean it without dremel work or anything exotic.

If you want to take it apart use one of the C clamp type. Very easy and you don't ruin the boot seals.
If your taking it off you might as well change the drag link rather than clean it.
