Default Which starter for my 73 454?

I'm selling my vette and want to replace the starter. It gets weak when hot. I was thinking of a gear reduction starter.

How man teeth does the proper starter have? I see 2 different tooth counts available.

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, the gear reduction starters (that's what I bought) are advertised that they can fit any flywheel because of the adjustable bolt pattern drilled into the body of the starter - can't be more specific because I haven't installed it yet.

Thanks, but adjusting the fit won't alter the tooth count. You still have to get the right gear tooth count to the best of my knowledge.

Yeah, but it allows compensation against the flex plate tooth count which varies between two sizes, which is why your starter teeth vary.

Isn't that called heat soak? I think you can get a shield for the starter so it doesn't get as hot.
