oil pressure gauge fluctuating normal?

Well earlier today I ran inside a convenience store to get something and just kept the vette running outside. When I came back out it had stopped running. I started her back up and heard some bad sound like something rubbing intensly so I shut it right off. My water temp was high and oil pressure low. I added a quart of oil which I always carry, checked my water level and then everything was fine. But then I was noticing that my oil pressure gauge sits at about 20 at idle and then moves up around 70 at about 3000 rpm. Is this normal? thanks

Yes it is normal, 20 pounds at idle is good and it goes up with the rpm level since the oil pump is spinning faster.

How should we know, its your car! What was the oil pressure like before this bad sound happened?
