Default Embarrassing question

Hello again all....lot's of time on my hands now that I'm laid off. Of course, no money to spend, but that's the breaks when you're a college student, I suppose.
My question is regarding the "max. vehicle weight". I'm a big guy, 6'4" and about 325#. My g/f is 6' and about 180#. According to the sticker on the door we are WAY too heavy for our '80. It lists a max. weight of aroud 450#. Any comments, other than providing links to Jenny Craig?
Will this added weight truly negatively affect the car? When I upgrade the springs front/rear should I get a heavier set? Should I use air shocks from a Mack semi?

Default Way too much time on your hands.....

Think about world peace instead....
or maybe a solution for the problems in the middle east....

Just enjoy your car and have fun.

So after this car is FINALLY done, I'm not going to have to explain why the seat brackets fell through the floor?

My 68 is tight for me and I'm "only" 6' @ 200lbs. Shoulder touches the door, thighs touch the steering wheel, bang my head on the roof gettgin in and out...etc.

Apparently, they made some changes for the latter years?

I wouldn't worry about the weight. If you're comfortable, drive it smiling!

You could do this:my 78 drivers seat broke(slide rail) autocrossing..I weigh 200...we beefed up lower seat frame by adding little gussets...also,the sides would tend to pull inwards, allowing a sag in the "butt" springs...look at it...gussets at side frame will help that...have a friend who weighs 360..he squeezes in a Mini Cooper...
