Tranny Issues! HELP!
Background..
1969 vert, 350/350 4-speed car.
In May the eXhaust blew
Weeks after I took the bad exhaust off to place on new 2.5 inch exhaust. While removing exhaust I needed to remove the Exhaust bracket.
Fast forward to the day before yesterday.
I had issues fitting the exhaust properly so I took it into the shop. The shop placed the exhaust on and it seems to be fine.
Tranny problems.
I am not sure if he placed the exhaust bracket back on. I will look a little later. I am not sure if this is the cause of the problems. We are having issues placing the car in 2nd. Not all the time, but random. It seems to grind. The tranny overall feels slushy.
Before we took it to the shop it ran great minus the exhaust issues. Now the tranny feels awful!

I got under the car and the exhasut bracket it one. The one thing I noticed is that there are 4-5 spacers (Washers) on the topside of the bracket. Would this be any cause for concern?

Adam, it's possible the rear transmission rubber mount has/is collapsed and the exhaust pipes were rubbing the inside of the frame crossmember holes and maybe they have used these "washers" to "raise up" the back of the transmission to get the exhaust pipes off of the frame. I wouldn't think this would affect the shifting unless the car has the original shifter which is frame mounted vs a Hurst which is "transmission mounted".
I don't think the exhaust work has anything to do with your problem, just coincidence.
Take a look at your shifter attachments and make sure the pin/washer is there, nothing is wrong to lock the linkage. Check anything under the area that could interfere.
Adjust the shift linkage, easy if you have the book.
Adjust clutch linkage. They might have taken out the cross shaft... maybe? Now its out of adjustment.
Make sure all the shift linkages are in either short throw or standard, not both. Maybe they disconnected and changed from short to standard- mushy?
