Phew.

Drove my 72 about 2 and a half hours to Sheboygan Falls, WI last night to drop my car off at Corvette Sports. The shop came recommended from three people here, and after checking out their website, it really seems like they're running a good organization - they take all kinds of pics of all the work they do and have many posted on their site. After talking with them, I had enough confidence in the shop to decide that it was worth the drive.

Since most of you probably have no idea why I dropped my car off, I discovered a fairly bad rust problem in the kick-ups of my car as well as some rust in rear crossmember #1. To the best of my knowledge, my rocker channels are in good shape (passenger side was nice and solid, didn't get a look at the driver's side because I was in the process of fixing my door latch), and the birdcage is rotted only in one small area. I had been panicking to some extent, but it looks like the frame damage may not be as bad as I had originally thought - Dick (he's the one who basically runs the shop) told me that it doesn't look too severe and they may not even have to pull the body. This, of course, is good news They're going to look the entire car over - frame, birdcage, and rocker channels - and call me back on Monday to tell me how bad it is as well as how much I can expect to pay for the repairs. This wait is somewhat agonizing, but I guess all I can do is hope for the best Wish me luck guys

It sounds like you are in good hands.
I'd be a bit surprised if they didn't have to raise the body at least a few inches for access.
I will be watching this closely, as I have done all of my frame
and birdcage repairs. I'm curious how much money I saved.
Actually, at my hourly rate, it is a big loss - but I enjoy it too much.

Good luck.
