In 1970 the Corvette could be had with a 390 hp 454 that had 500 ft lbs of torque. This motor was the LS-5 and had 10.25/1 compression. This is the highest compression 454 offered in the Corvette.

Just to be picky.
The LS7 had a 12.5 CR. But meant for the race track, you could buy it like any other option.

The LS7 was never offered in a factory car, or sold to the public.

Though I take it back I think they built 1 car though never sold to the public.

According to my recollection, you are correct....though I could be wrong....there were lots of "funny business" happening during that time at the "General's Office"....

I did some searching and you would think there would be something more official.

The LS7 engine option, which was never installed in the 1970 Corvette was $3000.
Another site guessed it was a dealer installed item, if it was ever installed.

So it sounds like it don't exist.

Does anyone know what came in my car? 68 with a 6500 redline tach.
