Default vanacor hood question

Hello,

I just got my new high rise cowl hood in from vanacor today. Its the same shape as my original 75 hood but its 2.25" taller.

I have a question invovling the latch set up on the new hood. The original hood has two 2" diameter holes drilled in it for the latches. These holes are drilled in the support frame of the hood. Each hole has a metal bracket with a lip the sticks out of the hole just a tiny bit. These brackets are riveted in and the only way to remove them is the remove the support frame for the outer shell of the hood, but its bonded on.

The new hood came smooth without the holes or brackets. I know i have to drill the holes myself ,but I wasn't sure if I needed the two brackets with the lips. They look like they are part of the latch assemble but theres no way to swap them without hacking up both hoods.

This is hard to explain without pictures but I know alot of you guys have aftermarket hoods so I hope you know what I'm talking about.

Thanks

Maybe your hood was intended to use hood pins? All the hoods I have bought have been ready to install, just transfer hardware. Call Vanacore.

Big G

The hood has the holes drilled and tapped for the hinge bolts. Also there is a sticker that says cowl hood for all hardware, so I think its the correct hood.
tomorrow I'm going to mount the hood, line it up, then mark and drill the holes for the latches. I'll try it without the brackets from the original hood and see if it latches.

From you avatar picture it looks like you have the same hood as me. Did you have to drill the holes for the latches or did you just swap the hardware and bolt it on?

Thanks
