71 Vert Top Input
Hey
I'm about to attempt to install my top. I ordered the complete kit (Al Knoch) and all weather strips. All I have now is a frame w/ no canvas on it so I'm at a diadvantage (never saw how the correct top should look).
What special tools would I need? Are the directions easy to follow? Should I bring it to an expert instead? If so how much should I pay? Comments?
I need to first have the top blasted and painted since it's been sitting for over 20 years.
Does any one have an AL Knoch video they would be willing to sell, rent or borrow? Please respond or send email.

You gotta have it. I've put on/helped put on about 4 tops, including my own. We set up a VCR in the garage and replay/replay the video while doing it.
Use SS staples, AND you MUST have either an electric or pneumatic stapler. A hand stapler will drive you nuts.
Replace all the tack strips. It's simple, IF you take your time. It took 2 full weekends to put the top on my 69, with the help of an experienced friend. Previous to my 69, I helped with another 69, then a 73. After those 3, we did a 67. Chuck
