Default Heavy, Heavy Clutch

Hi Guys:

Been away in the C6 section and thought I'd drop in on ya.

Took my 70' out for a little workout and found that the clutch pedal was extremely hard to press. What could be the issue? The car has been sitting for the winter and I've driven it for about 50 miles so far this spring/summer. Any suggestions?

Matt

Could be the z-bar bushings needing grease. Maybe the pedal pivot too. Discs have been known to stick after setting for long periods but that should go away after the 1st application. The pressure plate springs themselves don't get stronger with age, so you know that ain't it.

Could it be that you are accoustom to the softer pedal in the C6 with its hydraulics and diaphragm clutch and nothing more than that?

Wow. I had them go to the floor stuck in gear when the fork broke....don't know in your case..unless it has something to do with the pressure plate...????

Thanks for the suggestion. Are there visible grease fittings? Where are they located? I'm pretty brain dead when it comes to clutches.

Ha..I'd thought somebody would mention the "softie" C6 clutch. In fact, I drove my friend's 69 350/300 and I almost put my foot throught the floor the first time I shifted. I don't think this is a left leg deficiency matter. It is definately the car!

Yes, the fitting is at the bottom of the z-bar. Is it making a groaning noise when you push in the clutch?

Actually, the groaning is when I let the clutch out. The throwout bearing is whizzing away.
