I think the 2.25" ID should be loud enough and they should flow a lot better than the Hooker glasspacks (1 7/8" ID)... I'm curious how big the difference between the 2.25" and 2.5" ID mufflers is...
Hooker has come out with some new high flow mufflers, they probably don't show them anywhere yet. Since my car was down at Holley's R&D department as a test mule for the big block cars they gave me a set of the high flows and they do flow very well and they are pretty loud, this was about 6 months ago and I don't know if they are actually in production yet or not. My sig doesn't show the sidepipes that are currently on the car. If your interested you may want to call or e-mail holley and find out about the highflows, although I have no idea how much they cost.

I've made up a pair using what Summit used to sell called Turbo Tubes, basicly a chambered muffler, and they were freakin' loud!
The Hooker Max Flow with a perforated core will have a deeper mellower sound.
If you can do a little fab work, the Dynomax Magnum glasspacks have the same core and are dirt cheap
