Would you send this spoiler back to Eckler's??
I understand that there can be imperfections with fglass pieces, but this is sold as new and not 'imperfect'. Is it gonna be worth my time/effort/shipping charges to get a different spoiler, or should I just make this one work for fear of getting a worse one? There are no cracks <right now> but some of the primered marks are covering scratches. Does anyone have experience with glass from Eckler's? They will take it back, but I'm thinking of shipping cost<oversized> etc.
I am not in a hurry to do this so time is not an issue. What do you all think?
Steve
Wow.. Just read the other Eckler's thread. I have ordered from them and never had problems before this..

it'll be a pain to deal with sending it back..... i sent a zr1 bumper for a c3 back and it took months to send me a new stock one.. the zr1 bumper didn't even look right on a c3 plus it didn't line up at all....... they get their fiberglass mainly from ACI and so u have to wait for 2 companies to deal with it..... i would try to work with it...... since it's a spoiler, it will prolly get banged up a bit anyways from street use....

I hate to slam any company, but I buy ALOT of fiberglass stuff from Ecklers...they don't make much of their own glass anymore, and the molds are really getting tired. If you don't like it, I say send it back and COMPLAIN about the quality. (I do). BTW, other manufacturers have the same problems with quality. Some of the door-to-door front ends don't fit well at all..I'll step of the soap box for now...lol

My guess would be you got someone else's return....
Shipping it back would be up to you. Personally, I would call and talk to a responsible person and insist on some kind of compensation because it's obviously a used part and you don't really want the hassle of returning it, blah, blah.
I bought a 1-piece spoiler from them last year and it was fine, fit like a charm.

Call them, and send pics of the damage, try and get them to do a partial refund or a credit on your account. Both of those options will be less costly and troublesome than sending it back.
You can fix that little damage easy anyway.

If you talk to the right person I don't think it should cost you anything to send it back. It's defective which is a whole lot different that "I changed my mind and don't want it anymore." Most reputable companies like Eckler's will give you a direct return authorization number to ship it back in their account. Good lick. .

That reminds me of the L-88 hood I ordered from them. Scratches and primer spots. I thought I received someone's reject. They would not pay shipping and I would have to pay $100 each way! So a $495 hood would have cost me $795!
I kept the hood and have the paint shop prep it and paint.

i agree with the above -
that looks like typical fiberglass. the imperfections you see are taken care of in the painting process anyway. The body shop will charge you the same for what you have that they would charge for a perfect piece. it just goes with the territory and is expected.
...and believe me, I have painted MORE than my fair share of cars. especially fiberglass ones!

many of us know that gettting fiberglass parts and getting it to fit without any work is like spinning a roulette wheel. Obviously,it is not one of their better pieces. But it looks pretty easy to finish and prepare for paint. The heartache involved to send it back is probably not worth the trouble. Also, like someone else said, we pay for what we get.

Most fiberglass parts come with a disclaimer warning that some minor imperfections are normal. This rear valence required some grinding and sanding to get a good fit. I believe it is the expectation of the manufacturer that the part will "finished" and not installed and used as shipped. Unless there are cracks, I would keep the parts.
