Default 78 exhaust question

Hello, I'm going to be redoing my exhaust on my 78. Right now I have the stock 2-1-2 and am thinking of going with the true dual under car chambered setup from Mid America. My question is that I've not been able to find any pics of what this setup looks like from the rear of the car. Can anyone post some pics or set my mind at ease that it won't look funny without the mufflers there? Right now, from the rear, the mufflers are visible and to me it just seems like without them it may look like it's missing something. I also plan on running cats, so am I correct that to do this I need to buy the cats and have the exhaust cut to make room for the cats? Anyone running this setup...stock manifolds, high flow cats, under car chambered and "stock looking" turndowns out the back?

Help is always greatly appreciated....

Alright, I think I've figured out what I'm going to do, please give me input, but I'm going to get a true dual setup with magnaflow mufflers from corvette central. It's aluminized pipes. Then I'm going to put on dual high flow magnaflow cats.

Is there anything I'm going to need to do for the cats? Is there hoses or anything that needs to run to them or do I just cut out a piece of each pipe and clamp in the cat?

Funny you ask, I just recieved the chambered exaust for my '78 the other day and will be putting it on tomorrow.
Right now my car is setup with headers and true dual exaust into cats then mufflers. Cats are required on the car for emission testing but I will leave them off when I put on the chambered exaust and see if the people at the dmv will be able to tell( hopefully they wont ).
Anyway after its done I will be putting up pics and sound of it so I will let you know.

I believe I would go with a set of earlier duals. It's been a while but I bought a new '78 Corvette and the first thing I did was get a set of earlier duals without the cats that bolted right on. The crossmember is made to accept them.

I'm not saying I would not use the converters, but I would use the early duals and place two converters on the car for a real true dual setup. I think you could get away with it with the cars age and a good reading from the test station. With stock appearance they probably would never know the difference. jim
