Dumb question time, but as i am dreaming & scheming of my future mods. Is there anyone outhere that could sell their modified vette & break even? Am I the only one that is upside down on cost?

I have done so many mods to my car to make it to my liking. I am sure I have hurt the value of it in the long run but, I can live with that. So, yeah, I am upside down on cost. I can get in my car and drive it anywhere anytime and not have to worry about it leaving me stuck on the road. I like it the results, I think the car came out pretty good.
Mods or original, I think that most people, "UNless they got a very good deal" always get less then they paid. When people are trying to sell something, they will usally take less then they paid, not alway, but most of the time.
I bet there are very few c3's on this fourm that will bring more then they paid or have in it.
You've asked a good question. For me, my 79 is more of a hobby than an investment. The mods that I've done have been more for my satisfaction than for planning on a return on investment. I don't think I'd get back what I've put into it but I've sure had a lot of fun along the way.
well i traded a 97 bmw 740IL and 8K a year ago... don't think i'm upside down yet and don't plan on any major mods at this point. just like to keep it as stock as possible but not NCRS stock...
Don't forget (and this goes for any brand car) that it's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. I've seen some crazy deals go down just because some guy/girl wanted a particular car. I sold a C4 on the forum last year to another member from Virginia. He flew to OKC and bought the car sight unseen. It was acurately represented. I made a small profit, but not enough worth mentioning. You just never know what's going to trip somebody's trigger. The first guy might laugh in your face at the asking price, and the next guy will fall all over himself, and not be able to pull the money out of his pocket fast enough That's what makes the world go round!
I paid $11,000 in 1980 when it had just 9,000 miles on it. Since, just counting replacing parts,I have another $5000 or so in it...no mods...considering my insurance company letter on replacement value of $16,000,it is a draw...but not really..and it is a keeper anyway....
