Default newbie with a wheel question

I have just purchased my first Corvette about a week ago. It is a 1976 stingray L48 (according to the vin number). I do not know much about what the previous owners did to it, but one thing that was done was when it was re-painted they had the aluminum wheels painted to. I want to remove the paint. My father has an enclosed sandblaster, and I thought about sandblasting the paint off then glass bead blasting them to shine them up. Will this work, or do any of you all have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

The surface will look like &^%$ after sandblasting - use paint stripper, that should get all the paint off.

the stripper won't hurt the aluminum unless you leave it on there for a week

After stripping use 400, 600 and then 1000 grit sanpaper (1000 wet) and chrome polish... here's the "result":

Default Definitely dont sandblast!!

Strip the paint and then sand and polish them.
It is worth all the effort.

Thanks for the info. I will try the stripping and sanding method instead of the sand blasting method.
