Default best technique to clean up rusty exhaust manafoilds before painting them

got them off and ready to prep them and paint them they're not real real heavily rusted or nothing but do need cleaned up real good before paint ofcourse.

can anyone recommend the best way to go about doing this? should i media blast them, just use a steel wool brush or something like that? maybe get something to go on my grinder?

also what paint should I use I want to make it look original.

thanks!

thanks bud, one more question iight. Ok so buy the metal ready and the por 15 paint but wihch p0r 15 did you use because I like that shade..was it this stuff called "FACTORY MANIFOLD GRAY" or did you use another one of the por 15 choices to paint them?

this is it http://www.por15.com/product.asp?productid=260

oh and did you just buy it in the spray can and paint them that way or did you use some kind of sprayer?

I will second the POR-15 recommendation. Great stuff! Yes, it's the Factory Manifold Gray coating. I have always sandblasted them, then applied 2 coats with a foam brush. I have done about 6 sets of manifolds over the last few years, and there is still some left in the pint can!
Click on My Corvette Photos, and find the engine pic of my LT-1. I did those about 6 years ago.

Sandblast and POR and they look brand new. I also use the POR slive high temp paint but it won't look original but gives a nice kind of aluminum finish.
