I am considering spraying a bedliner kit on the bottom of my 72. I am thinking this will work as a sound deadner, heat barrier and keep the under side of the car clean and looking nice. Any thoughts or has any one done this?
I'm not sure how it will work. I have that lousy tarrish crap on parts of mine. It traps the dirt and oil and looks like crap even if its clean. All wavy looking. When its clean it looks just like it did before, like a huge build up of oily greasy stuff that is built up on spots.
I thought about it but that stuff is very rough. It is tough but also not sure how it would adhere to the fiberglass. Once it is on that is it. I think it may be kind of heavy also but like you said , I am sure it would deaden the sound. I saw them spray line x on a frame on the TV show TRUCKS! once. Very durable to coat the frame and wheel wells, but they were metal. I just took the die grinder and went over the entire undercarriage to remove all the undercoating. It takes some time but really wasn't that bad. Just added a coat of POR 15 to the entire underside today. Looks good and should be pretty durable. Not as much as the bedliner I am sure. Keep us posted if you go for it.
I used a rattle can bed liner from Autozone to spray my underside after pressure washing and cleaning with marine clean. I think it came out nice. I think I have pics in my gallery.
Pressure washers the way to go.
Did the back of the car
Driveway and flagstones around the flower bed....Hmmm
The rest of the driveway- even edged it! cut right through the grass.
The front porch.
If the dog hadn't run off she would have been cleaned too.
I used PPG epoxy primer but there are many options. My observation has a material that hardens with a smooth surface best. Gloss would be best, but not very original looking and visually distracting from the body. The smooth and semi gloss material will clean more easily and look better longer. The crinkle stuff provides all kinds of nooks and crannies for dirt to imbed and become difficult to clean later. Even a flat paint finish has enough texture to be more difficult to keep clean than semi gloss. Just something to keep in mind when choosing a product to meet your need.

Just got one..put the Vette up on ramps, sprayed Simple Green, let set, then pressure washed..could not believe how well Simple Green cut thru grime...(leary of the chemical washes that take paint off...)
BTW..our cat hauled buns the minute I started the pressure washer....
